Guitar Hero was the most important game of my life. I was 14 years old when it came out. I remember the first time I saw it. I walked into my local Irving TX Gamestop and there was this huge black plastic guitar hanging from the side of a flat screen tv, thundering rock n roll pouring from the speakers. My dad gave me a challenge: Beat Iron Man on Medium and he'd buy the game for me. I GOT SO CLOSE to the end and flubbed it. Made the walk of shame back to the car. I bought the game with my own money later that week. Spent most of Middle & High school years coming home and plugging away at high scores. I went from Easy to Expert in a week. I was always the best of all my friends. They would watch me play and be in awe when I'd finally miss a note. I felt so badass walking into Best Buy and showing off to all who was watching. Eventually I started entering tournaments. My first was at that Best Buy, where I absolutely destroyed this guy at guitar battle on Bark at the Moon. Won about $20 for my efforts. My best moment was coming in 16th out of 200+ at the World Series of Video Games at the Gaylord Hotels. That was some crazy fun. There was a giant stage with amps and TVs all over the place. I was playing against big name pro players who'd been flying around the world for this tournament. We were scored on percentage, percieved difficulty of what we were playing, and how cool you moved and acted on stage. I lasted 3 rounds and even got shown playing on the live feed on the site. It was my horrible choice of Jessica by the Allman Brothers that sealed my fate, as that song is boring as shit and didn't get me enough points. Was still an amazing time in my life. Guitar Hero boosted my love for music and I'll never give that up. I even learned how to drum for real when Rock Band came out. I've drummed in 3 bands so far. I hope every day they'll come out with a new one and it'll take the world by storm like it did when it first came out.

I liked Rock Band 2 the best, but I also started on Gutar Hero 1 for the PS2.

I've played it at friends houses and in local game shops (which have sadly since shut down) but due to poverty that's the extent to which my Guitar Hero/Rock Band experience goes.
I do, however, have DJ Hero 1 + 2, which despite some iffy tracklistings, are very enjoyable and incredibly affordable nowadays. Got a perfect on Midnight in a Perfect World by DJ Shadow on the highest difficulty, beat that. Admittedly that is one of the few tracks I played over and over because a lot of the rest is kinda shitty.
