Keep seeing Pynchon pop up but I'm yet to begin reading his work, anything you recommend starting with in particular? I'd say The Crying of Lot 49. It's his shortest novel and gets to the point quicker. Books like Gravity's Rainbow and Against the Day by him are so multilayered that it's kind of hard to keep track of. If you're brave, you can start with those two, but I wouldn't recommend it. His newer novels are good as well.

Cheers I may start with that, yeah from what I've gathered through reviews of some of his books they seem a bit dense. I want to read Inherent Vice as well before the movie comes out later this year.

Never really been that big into literature, sadly. I'm not going to pretend to know what I'm talking about, but I've been reading through the Scott Pilgrim comics for the first time in however many years recently. They're great fun. I'm looking forward to the creator's upcoming standalone graphic novel 'Seconds' which you lucky Americans get in under a week. Not sure if there's a UK release date just yet. Regardless, I'll be buying that at some point.
